E Hungarian Major

E · F♯♯ · G♯ · A♯ · B · C♯ · D

Built from the root, raised second, major third, raised fourth, fifth, sixth, and flat seventh, E Hungarian Major is a bright but strongly altered dominant scale. It's closely related to the half-whole diminished scale and shares much of its character. Used in Hungarian folk music and by jazz players over dominant chords needing extra colour.
