G 7th Suspended 4th · 4 fingerings

Take a dominant seventh and replace the third with a fourth: G7sus4 keeps the forward pull of a dominant chord but softens its edge. It's a staple of funk, soul, and modal jazz, and works beautifully as a vamp you can sit on for bars at a time. Often resolves to the plain dominant seventh, or simply stays put as its own colour.
