A♭6

A♭ 6th · 4 fingerings

Adding a major sixth to the major triad gives A♭6 a warm, relaxed sweetness without the forward pull of a seventh. It was the default way to end a song in the swing and early rock eras, and it still sounds gorgeous as a final chord. Popular in jazz, bossa nova, and vintage pop where a plain major triad feels too plain.
